Professor Haerle carried out his medical and surgical training in Italy, France and Germany.
He started his training with Giorgio Brunelli, then continued training with the French Hand Group around Alain Gilbert, Caroline Leclercq and Raoul Tubiana.
He then continued at the University of Hannover (Alfred Berger) and then moved to the University of Tübingen to complete his training in Plastic surgery and in Hand surgery as well.
He is Assistant Professor (venia legendi) in Plastic Surgery at the E.K. University Tübingen.
Since 2005 he heads the Hand and Plastic Surgery Department of the Orthopaedic Clinic in Markgröningen in Germany (Stuttgart).
Max Haerle is a Council member of the German Hand Society (DGH) and was one of three Congress Presidents of the IFSSH meeting in Berlin 2019.
Max Haerle was General Secretary of FESSH (Federation of European Societies for Surgery of the Hand) from 2014 to 2017.
Professor Haerle is former President of EWAS and former Secretary General of IWAS (International Society for Wrist Arthroscopy) and EWAS (European Society for Wrist Arthroscopy)
He is Past President of the German Hand Society (DGH).
